چکیده

Background: Recent studies have shown that arterial stiffness is a strong predictor of cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality, with CAVI (Cardio-Ankle Vascular Index) as non-invasive testing method in daily practice. Objective: This study was conducted to examine the relationship between smoking -as risk factor for stiffness- values, well levels IL-1β (Interleukin 1β) cytokine plays role pathophysiology stiffness. Methods: Eighty-four participants, including smokers non-smokers without other factors, were included study. Demographic data, medical history, behavior taken using questionnaire, then examined Results: The mean level subjects significantly higher (15.09 ± 0.48) than non-smoking (5.53 0.79; p=0.001). values also (8.0 0.06) (6.9 0.02; Further analysis showed positive correlation (r=+0.776; p=0.001) (r=+0.759; Conclusion: shows correlates values. greater number cigarettes used per day longer duration smoking, there measured by CAVI.

The associations between cardiovascular risk factors, physical activity, and arterial stiffness in youth.

BACKGROUND The primary aim of this population-based study was to determine if arterial stiffness is associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factor clustering and physical activity in youth 12-14 years old. We hypothesized that arterial stiffness would be positively associated with CVD risk factor clustering and negatively associated with physical activity in a dose-response manner in ...
